ALBERS, IL., June 30, 2021 . . . Celebrating its 100-year anniversary, family-owned and operated, Home Nursery, Inc., announced it is once again expanding its physical footprint with the purchase of a new greenhouse growing facility in Tennessee consisting of 23 acres with 118,000 sq ft of heated greenhouses and 21,000 sq ft of unheated greenhouses. Home Nursery currently markets to thirteen Midwestern states, providing top quality plants to independent garden centers, landscape contractors and distribution centers in the horticulture trade.

“We recognize the growth opportunities in our current perennial program and are excited about being able to provide more product to our customers. We are seeing huge increases with branded perennials like Proven Winners. With the current record-breaking growth in the industry, now seems to be an opportune time to make this investment. We know we have to continue to grow our business and stay relevant in the market place and we are confident that with providing a quality product, partnering with the Proven Winners brand, and the exceptional service that our customers expect from us, this will be a successful venture,” said Ann Tosovsky, president of Home Nursery, Inc.

Having this new greenhouse facility will allow Home Nursery to expand its current perennial program by more than 30% in 2022, increase in-house propagation production of perennials and ornamental grasses as well as introduce a new forced perennial program for early spring sales. The company is also planning on introducing a “bud and bloom” flowering shrub program in the future for Mother’s Day sales at Independent Garden Centers.

The new greenhouse facility is located 5 miles south of the current production farm which was purchased in 2019 in the nursery capital of the U.S., McMinnville, TN, and will serve to supplement Home Nursery’s production at the Albers, IL farm.

“We will maintain our nursery location and corporate office in Albers, IL, and the distribution centers in Albers, IL and O’Fallon, MO. Our desire is to get the new facility operational and ready for 2022 spring sales,” added Tosovsky.

Tosovsky is the third generation of Home Nursery ownership. The company was started by Tosovsky’s grandfather, a Czechoslovakian immigrant named Ernest E. Tosovsky, Sr., in 1921 as a small back yard nursery in Edwardsville, IL. Today, the company employs 120 people during peak season and approximately 90 in non-peak season.
