Home Nursery, Inc. Announces New Growing Facility

Nearing its 100-year anniversary, family-owned and operated, Home Nursery, Inc., today announced it is expanding its 385-acre nursery in Albers, Ill. with the purchase of a new turnkey growing facility in Tennessee.

ALBERS, IL., August 30, 2019 . . . Nearing its 100-year anniversary, family-owned and operated, Home Nursery, Inc., today announced it is expanding its 385-acre nursery in Albers, Ill. with the purchase of a new turnkey growing facility in Tennessee. Home Nursery currently markets to thirteen Midwestern states, providing top quality plants to independent garden centers, landscape contractors and distribution centers in the horticulture trade.

“At Home Nursery we have made it our mission to provide top-quality plants and unparalleled customer service and it is because of our dedication to these two things, plus our commitment to providing a positive work culture for employees, that we are able to expand our footprint. The increase in acreage and longer growing season, combined with our diligent attention to the art of growing will result in greater inventories at the same level of quality our customers have come to expect from Home Nursery,” said Ann Tosovsky, president of Home Nursery, Inc.

Having a facility to immediately move into in Tennessee, will allow Home Nursery to bring product to the market sooner than developing ground at its current farm. The new facility being located in the South allows Home Nursery to increase the depth of production so it can better serve existing and new customers.

The new nursery property will be located in the nursery capital of the U.S., McMinnville, Tenn., and will serve to supplement Home Nursery’s production at the Albers farm.

“We will maintain our nursery location and corporate office in Albers, Ill., and the distribution centers in Albers, Ill. and O’Fallon, Mo. We will be expanding our expert team of growers and staff at the McMinnville location as production dictates. Our desire is to make this new addition seamless for our customers, and with as little disruption as possible to our employees,” added Tosovsky.

Tosovsky is the third generation of Home Nursery ownership. The company was started by Tosovsky’s grandfather, a Czechoslovakian immigrant named Ernest E. Tosovsky, Sr., in 1921 as an independent farm stand in Edwardsville, Ill. Today, the company employs 115 people during peak season and approximately 90 in non-peak season.
